After a week on the road with my lovely wife, I am back in the studio.
Every Thanksgiving we set out from Los Angeles and head for Denver Colorado. It is 18 hours of fun, that is, until the sun goes down. In Utah we chase the sun for fear the zombies will crawl out of the desert and make a meal out of us when it gets dark. This rarely happens, but the road becomes a black hole with the occasional sedan sized Elk or Deer carcass on the road that will scare the ever lovin shit out of ya!! I am pretty sure Utah is what an alien planet is like. I asked the wife if she would tell anyone if we saw a U.F.O. I warned her, if she did, we run the risk of being "that couple". She said she would tell people she saw an unidentified flying aircraft. A U.F.A. Cause that's less crazy.
I also wonder what it's like to be born, live and die in Green River Utah. From what I can tell, parties at the Super 8 are definitely on the agenda and you probably have seen a dead body.
On many occasions you can see cars driving off the freeway and out into Wylie Coyote's backyard. This makes the wife and I wonder, WTF ?! Where are ya going?!
Then last year I was going to use the toilet at the 'Black Dragon Canyon' rest stop and I was approached by a man resembling Santa. Actually, he had a chihuahua and was looking for weed so, it was totally Santa!! He made me nervous because, he was alright with following me into the can and talking to me whilst I used the urinal. I never took my eyes off him. I ain't getting my head smacked into the wall and waking up with a red rubber ball in my mouth! Thankfully this was not the outcome. He did however direct us to the Thompson Springs exit where we were told to drive for about 20 minutes into the desert.
So we did.
Very cool stuff was in them mountains! On the rocks are pictographs that date back to 2000 B.C. and a hidden rock arch! Amazing! A great detour, thanks Weed Santa! Another bonus is, you get to go through a little bit of a ghost town. The diner looked like people were in there havin breakfast and then they just vanished. Vanished!!! The motel next to the diner had no doors and one of the rooms had been spray painted with "I Live Here" on the wall. I still believe this was Santa' s "workshop".
Bottom line is, taking advice from a vagrant and driving off into the desert on a quarter tank of gas, is far less scary than looking for the Wendy's in North Las Vegas.
Then we went to Beaver!!

Well here I am in beautiful Southern California hopped up on coffee and unable to turn of my brain. Seems to me that just when I think I have some time to relax, I find myself working on some new project. Maybe that is relaxing and I just haven't figured it out yet.
I have created some new pieces for the Dick's Chicks poster series. For some reason I am on a roller derby kick.
This is my "Green Fuzz Derby Girl." She will be available on my website after Thanksgiving. I really love finding unique perspective and poses as it adds something dramatic to the overall look.
Another girl that is in progress and will be available after Thanksgiving is my ode to cartoon chicks.
She's a cutie, although my wife still doesn't get the whole cartoon thing, I dig it.
Well there it is I finally updated my blog. I really should do this more often but I would rather be drawing!!
More to come!!
